I’ve been on a professional journey spanning graphic design, a rich multi-disciplinary artistic practice, innovative user experience work in learning technologies, and serving as a design educator. My path has been guided by an insatiable passion for visual communication and continual exploration. However, this creative drive extends far beyond just my professional pursuits. On a deeply personal level, I have embarked on an ongoing voyage of self-discovery and growth as an artist.
Through each new creative endeavor, I've uncovered more about my authentic voice, my artistic purpose, and how I can meaningfully contribute to this world. Every mixed media collage, abstract painting, or experimental sound composition serves as another brush stroke on the canvas of self-knowledge and creative awakening. This profound intersection of artistic expression and introspection has allowed me to peel back the layers of who I am while pushing the boundaries of what I can create.
My artistic practice is not merely a vocation, but a means to constantly reimagine my perspectives, question my assumptions, and engage in an ever-evolving dialogue with my innermost self. It is this symbiotic relationship between creator and created that enables me to show up more wholly - as an educator, a creator, and a perpetual seeker of truth and beauty.
My love affair with art and design began during my studies, where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design Communication from Texas Tech University. This strong foundation paved the way for an enriching professional career as a graphic designer, allowing me to hone my skills in creative problem-solving and visual storytelling.
Seeking to understand myself more as an artist and creator, I pursued a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the prestigious Virginia Commonwealth University. This advanced degree not only strengthened my critical thinking abilities but also opened up new avenues for creative expression across various media, including collage, multi-media painting, and sound art.
After graduate school, I had the opportunity to merge my creative expertise with emerging technologies working as a UX/UI designer in the field of learning technologies. This experience allowed me to push the boundaries of user-centered design and develop innovative solutions that seamlessly blend aesthetics and functionality.
I am driven by a spirit of curiosity, experimentation, and lifelong learning. As an educator, I strive to create an inclusive, nurturing environment that empowers students to find their unique creative voices as creators. Through active learning, peer collaboration, and iterative processes, I guide students on a journey of self-discovery, helping them develop the skills, mindset, and confidence to thrive in the dynamic worlds of art, design, and technology.
